Medicare Part B

Medicare Covers Your Crutches.

Part B pays 80% of covered crutches as durable medical equipment. Here's how to get them β€” plus a faster option if you'd rather skip the wait.

Who Handles Your Claim?

Medicare splits crutch (DME) claims into four jurisdictions by state. Pick yours to see who processes it and who to call.

For crutch (DME) questions, call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), TTY 1-877-486-2048.

One Code Decides Everything

Medicare covers the forearm code (E0110) cleanly. The spring-assisted underarm code (E0117) usually isn't paid by Medicare. Want the underarm model? Ask your provider about the ABN upgrade pathway β€” or grab the $100 option below and skip the paperwork.

3 Simple Steps

How to Get Them Covered

1

Confirm it's covered

Crutches are DME under Part B β€” covered at 80% after your 2026 deductible ($283), when a provider prescribes them for home use.

2

Ask your provider for the order

The forearm code is the clean covered path. Use this line:

"I'd like forearm crutches for home use β€” code E0110 β€” and please note the medical reason in my chart."
3

Submit your order to Millennial Medical

Have your provider submit and pay for your order directly to Millennial Medical β€” they can email it to orders@millennialmedical.com or fax it to 435-750-8989. We'll ship your crutches to your door, free of charge.

Bring this to your appointment so your provider can document the medical need:

Have Medigap?

Medicare + a Supplemental Plan

If you carry a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan, it usually picks up the 20% Part B doesn't β€” so a covered forearm pair (E0110) may cost you $0.

Call both before you buy. Ask Medicare whether the crutches are covered, then ask your Medigap insurer how much of your 20% share they'll pay. Keep two cards handy β€” your Medicare number and your Medigap policy ID.
One catch: Medigap only helps with what Medicare covers. It won't pay for the spring-assisted underarm (E0117) if Medicare won't β€” the $100 option below is your fastest route to that model.
This isn't a coverage guarantee. Every plan and situation is different. The only way to know your true benefit is to call Medicare and your plan and have the conversation yourself.
