Knee Scooter Rental

Weekly Rental + Crutches You Pay: $105 Save $69 when you bundle! Monthly Rental + Crutches You Pay: $170 Save $69 when you bundle! If you've had foot or ankle surgery — or you're dealing with a stress fracture, a bad sprain, or an Achilles injury — your doctor has probably told you to stay completely off that leg. Crutches work, but they wear you out fast. Your arms ache, carrying anything is nearly impossible, and navigating your own house becomes an event. A knee scooter is a much easier way to get through that kind of recovery. You rest your injured leg on a padded knee platform, push off with your good leg, and steer with handlebars — hands free, upright, and moving at a normal pace. Most people who switch from crutches to a knee scooter wonder why they didn't do it sooner. We rent Medline knee scooters right here in St. George. You can have one delivered to you for a $25 delivery fee, or pick it up at our office on Industrial Rd. Either way, we'll make sure it's adjusted to fit you before you leave or before we leave your door.

Some recoveries call for both — a knee scooter for getting around the house and out in the world, and crutches for situations where the scooter won't fit (stairs, uneven ground). We can rent you both together for $105/week or $170/month, saving you $69 off the individual prices. The scooter comes back to us; the crutches are yours to keep. What We Rent — Medline Knee Scooter We use Medline knee scooters — the same brand you'll see in hospitals, physical therapy clinics, and surgical recovery centers. They're built for everyday use during recovery, and they hold up well. Here's what's on ours: Feature Details: Knee rest Padded platform that supports your lower leg and keeps your foot elevated — adjusts in height to fit different leg lengthsHandlebars Adjustable height — raise or lower them to fit your height so you're not hunching over or reaching upFront basket Built-in wire basket at the front — carry your phone, a water bottle, medication, a small bag — things you can't carry on crutchesWheels Four wheels with smooth-rolling casters — stable on hardwood, tile, carpet, and smooth outdoor surfacesBrakes Hand brakes on the handlebars — squeeze to stop, same as a bicycleFrame Sturdy steel construction — handles daily use without wobbling or flexing Before we send you off with it — whether you pick it up or we deliver it — we'll adjust the knee rest and handlebars to fit your height. It takes about two minutes and makes a significant difference in comfort and stability. Knee Scooter vs. Crutches — Which Is Right for You? Both work for non-weight bearing recovery. The right choice depends on your situation. Here's an honest comparison:
  Knee Scooter Crutches
Upper body strain None — legs do the work Significant — arms, shoulders, wrists
Hands free Yes — when stopped No — both hands always on grips
Speed and endurance Faster, less tiring over distance Slower, more exhausting over distance
Stairs Cannot use on stairs Can navigate stairs with practice
Tight spaces Needs more room to maneuver More nimble in very tight areas
Outdoor terrain Smooth surfaces only Usable on most terrain
Carrying things Front basket included Nearly impossible without a bag
Learning curve Minimal — most people are comfortable immediately Takes a few days, especially on stairs
If you have stairs in your home that you absolutely have to use every day, you'll need crutches for at least that part of your day. A lot of people rent the scooter and keep a pair of crutches on hand for stairs — that's exactly why we offer the bundle deal.

Who Typically Rents a Knee Scooter

Knee scooters are specifically designed for lower leg, foot, and ankle injuries where you need to stay completely off one leg. The most common situations we see:
  • Foot and ankle surgery — bunionectomy, ankle reconstruction, Lisfranc repair, and similar procedures that require full non-weight bearing for several weeks
  • Achilles tendon repair — Achilles injuries have some of the longest non-weight bearing recovery periods, and a knee scooter makes that stretch much more livable
  • Stress fractures in the foot — often requires 4–8 weeks completely off the foot; a scooter turns that from miserable to manageable
  • Severe ankle sprains — grade 3 sprains can require weeks of non-weight bearing, especially if a fracture is also involved
  • Plantar fasciitis surgery — less common, but when surgery is required, recovery is non-weight bearing for several weeks
  • Anyone who tried crutches and gave up — if you've already been on crutches for a few days and your arms, wrists, or armpits are wrecked, a knee scooter is a game changer

Before you leave with it — or before we leave your door — we'll adjust the knee rest and handlebar height to fit you properly. For most people recovering from foot or ankle surgery, yes — significantly. A knee scooter takes all the weight off your arms and shoulders, lets you move faster and longer without fatigue, and gives you the front basket to carry things. The main limitation is stairs — a scooter can't do stairs, so if you have stairs in your home that you can't avoid, you'll need crutches for that part. That's why we offer a bundle deal with both.No — knee scooters don't work on stairs. If your home has stairs you need to use every day, you'll want crutches for that. A lot of people rent the knee scooter and keep a pair of crutches just for the stairs.
